Who Says There Are No Participation Trophies in Pro Football?

The Indianapolis Colts have a record of 6-7. They have lost their last two games by a combined score of 96-26. It is common gossip in the NFL that at season's end, either coach Chuck Pagano, general manager Ryan Grigson or both will be placed among the unemployed.

That might be after a playoff game. As of this morning, the Colts remain in first place in the AFC South, holding a head to head win over the also 6-7 Texans. Anyone who watched the Patriots' dull but efficient garroting of Houston last night cannot say that a Colts' sweep of the Texans is out of the realm of possibility.

Maybe those 5-8 Jaguars, the league's newest offensive juggernaut, will pass them both. Who knows? Picking a "winner" in the AFC South is like betting on which raindrop can go UP the window first.
